Housekeeping is one of the most numerous departments onboard our ships and personnel serving in this area has the duty of ensuring that our Guests enjoy their cruise experience in a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. The team pledges to maximize the satisfaction of the Guest and is concentrated on complying with the highest standards of service, paying the utmost attention to even the smallest details. The cabin is an island of comfort for our Guests and the work done by the Housekeeping staff, which tidies each cabin several times a day, is aimed at providing personalized and efficient service. The members of this department are also responsible for cleaning the common areas and as well as providing some specific services such as butler service and more.

Organization chart and jobs descriptions

The Housekeeping Manager supervises all cleaning and sanitizing activities in the Cabins, Pools, Showers, Gym, Spa and other common places of the ship (carpet, flooring, etc.). He or she is responsible, along with the Chief Laundry, for the Laundry activities. The Housekeeping Manager has excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. He or she is the head of the whole structure of the Housekeeping Department. He or she organizes personal training for new employees and ensures that all staff performs their duties in compliance with the standards of quality, safety and hygiene. The Housekeeping Manager deals with any complaints from either management or Guests. He or she has three years of past experience in a similar position, and has excellent knowledge of English (Advanced B2).

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the Housekeeping Manager in the supervision and direction of staff. He or she has excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager oversees the operative management of all Housekeeping staff by organizing weekly meetings, assigning tasks, managing shifts, and supervising activities. He or she has two years of experience in a similar position, and has excellent knowledge of English (Advanced B1).

The Cabin Steward must have a technical background in the tourism sector and have at least one year of experience of as a room clerk in an international hotel. He or she must demonstrate a passion for working in teams. The main responsibility is to serve our Guests, and tidy and clean the passenger cabins. This includes cleaning rooms and bathrooms, changing towels and sheets, replenishing products for personal hygiene and for the refrigerator, removing waste, making sure that all equipment is in order, and requesting maintenance if necessary. As part of the daily duties, the Cabin Steward also provides our Guests with information regarding the operation of the equipment in the cabin, on-board services, and procedures for embarkation and disembarkation. He or she has good knowledge of the English language (minimum A2).

The Housekeeping Steward must have a technical background in the tourism industry, with at least one year of experience in a similar role. He or she must have a passion for teamwork. The Housekeeping Steward is responsible for the cleaning, care, and maintenance of the ship’s common areas such as lounges, swimming pools, outdoor decks, offices, and service areas for Guests and crew. He or she also manages the delivery of baggage in the cabin during embarkation. He or she has good knowledge of the English language (minimum A2).

Interview

The Chief Laundry is responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene of the products entrusted to Laundry, both for Guests and for the Staff, ensuring a high level of quality, hygiene and safety. He or she must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. He or she must have a good ability to work in a team and be able to motivate and manage that team. The Chief Laundry supervises the activities of all employees in the Laundry, assigning tasks and duties. He or she has two years of experience in a similar position, and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Advanced B2).

The Assistant Chief Laundry supports the activities of the Chief Laundry, performing the more operational tasks such as organizing staff, welcoming and training new recruits, and organizing small weekly meetings. He or she must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. The Assistant Chief Laundry must have a good ability to work in teams. He or she has two years of experience in a similar position, and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Advanced B2).

The Washer is assigned to the Laundry and is responsible for the quality of service offered to Guests and Officers, Staff, and Crew members regarding uniforms. He or she has technical expertise in the use of machinery in the Laundry. The Washer respects the hours and carries out tasks assigned by the Chief Laundry. He or she has a good knowledge of the English language (minimum B2).

The Dry Cleaner is assigned to the Laundry and is responsible for the quality of service offered to Guests and Officers, Staff, and Crew members regarding uniforms. He or she has technical expertise in the use of machinery in the Laundry. The Dry Cleaner respects the hours and carries out tasks assigned by the Chief Laundry. He or she has a good knowledge of the English language (minimum B2).

The Laundryman must have at least six months of experience in a shoreside laundry room or have completed at least one contract with a role similar onboard a cruise ship. The laundryman is required to ensure an efficient and timely laundry service to both Guests and to the other crew members. In carrying out daily activities, he or she complies with Company procedures and ensures the highest safety standards. He or she has good knowledge of the English language (at least B2).
