Working at one of the Bars onboard means having direct contact with our Guests, for whom we are always motivated to offer friendly and attentive service. Meet every need, be kind and helpful, and satisfy every Guest request. These are the main objectives of each position of the Bar. The Bar Department is also involved in organizing and managing cocktail parties, special events, and theme parties.

Organization chart and jobs descriptions

The Bar Manager is a supervisor and is responsible for all activities carried out within the Beverage Department. He or she guarantees that the best service is offered to our Guests. He or she is responsible for managing, coordinating, and motivating the Bar staff and ensuring that the service offered to our Guests is flawless and in compliance with corporate standards. The Bar Manager deals with the management of revenues, expenses, and supplies, and makes sure that the warehouse is always stocked. He or she must show special attention to hygiene standards on board, company policies, and the working hours of staff. He or she must have five or more years of previous experience in managerial positions in Food and Beverage and have excellent knowledge of the English language (Fluent B2).

The Assistant Bar Manager works to support the Bar Manager in operational tasks. He or she organizes the Bar staff’s shifts and working hours, and is responsible for the inclusion of new staff and for organizing weekly meetings. The Assistant Bar Manager checks that all staff fulfill their duties by providing impeccable service and complying with Costa standards, the standards of safety and hygiene. He or she organizes and manages events, parties, and special occasions. He or she must have previous experience in a managerial role in Food and Beverage and have excellent knowledge of the English language (Fluent B1).

The 1st Bartender supports the activities of the Bar Manager and the Assistant Bar Manager. He or she must ensure excellent and impeccable service for Guests both in terms of quality and approach, which is always courteous and helpful. The 1st Bartender must ensure that the Bar and Lounge is ready 10 minutes before opening to Guests and that the Bar opens on time. He or she is responsible for order and cleanliness, and for hygiene and safety standards. He or she checks supplies and requests orders for the necessary materials. The 1st Bartender has previous experience in a similar role in the field of Food and Beverage and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Fluent B1).

The Bartender supports the activities of the 1st Bartender. He or she supervises the activities of Bar Boys and Bar Waiters/Waitresses. He or she must ensure excellent and impeccable service for Guests, both in terms of quality and approach, which is always courteous and helpful. The Bartender is responsible for order and cleanliness, and hygiene and safety standards. He or she collects any complaints and negative feedback from our Guests and acts to resolve them. The Bartender has previous experience in a similar role in the field of Food and Beverage and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Fluent B1).

The Assistant Bartender supports the activities of the Bartender. He or she must ensure excellent and impeccable service for Guests, both in terms of quality and approach, which is always courteous and helpful. The Assistant Bartender is responsible for order and cleanliness, and for hygiene and safety standards. He or she is in charge of checking the Bar satff’s attendance. He or she collects any complaints and negative feedback from our Guests and acts to resolve them. The Assistant Bartender has previous experience in a similar role in the field of Food and Beverage and has excellent knowledge of the English language (at least A2).

The Bar Boy is responsible for verifying that the setup of the BAR is correct prior to its opening. He ensures that the bar is clean and sanitized. During service, the Bar Boy handles the cleanliness  providing clean, bright glasses. He keeps the Bar counter and floor clean and sanitized, and meets the standards of safety and hygiene. He has a good knowledge of the English language (at least A2).

The Bar Waiter or Waitress offers Guests suggestions on their drink selections and is responsible for sales in the Lounges. In addition, they keep tables clean and sanitized, and ensure that all the tables are in order. He or she must promptly report any defects with tables or chairs to the Assistant Bar Manager or Bar Manager. During service, the Bar Waiter or Waitress responds to Guests with courtesy and helps the Guests to sit down, always remembering to serve ladies first. He or she must report any complaints to the Bar Manager or Assistant Bar Manager. The Bar Waiter or Waitress is always friendly and kind to our Guests and has good knowledge of the English language (at least A2).
