Working in one of our Restaurants means endeavoring to offer the highest quality service, which is aimed at our Guests’ complete satisfaction. Within our dining rooms, the quality of products and dishes served is always accompanied by impeccable service. Our professional employees are experts in offering friendly, helpful, and courteous service to our Guests, pledging to fulfill their every culinary need or necessity. Additionally, in the Restaurants onboard our ships, we observe the most scrupulous standards in safety and hygiene in order to protect both Guests and staff.

Organization chart and jobs descriptions

The 1st Maitre d’Hotel is responsible for the overall Restaurant service to our Guests. He or she ensures that all workers in the Restaurant perform their duties flawlessly, that they respect Costa Cruises’ high quality standards, and that they comply with all rules regarding safety and hygiene. The 1st Maitre d’Hotel organizes and plans meetings with all Restaurant staff, and is in charge of any complaints made by either management or by Guests. He or she is assisted in his or her work by the 2nd Maitre d’Hotel. The 1st Maitre d’Hotel has three years of past experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel or with other cruise lines. He or she also presents excellent communication, interpersonal,l and leadership skills, and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Advanced B2).

The Waiter Supervisor is the manager of all waitstaff, as well as being the assistant to the 1st Maitre d’Hotel. He or she coordinates, manages, and organizes the activities of the waitstaff within the Hotel, guarantees that all workers in the Restaurant perform their duties flawlessly and in line with Costa Cruises’ high quality standards, organizes and schedules meetings with waitstaff, and ensures that they comply with all the rules of safety and hygiene. The Waiter Supervisor has two years of experience in a similar position. He or she also presents excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Advanced B2).

The Buffet Supervisor is responsible for the organization, preparation, setting up, management, supply, and supervision of the Buffets onboard. He or she coordinates the Snack Stewards, ensuring that our Restaurants are always in line with Company quality standards and that the Buffet set up is impeccably accurate in every detail. The Buffet Supervisor deals with any complaints made by either management or by Guests. He or she ensures that all personnel comply with all the rules of safety and hygiene. The Buffet Supervisor has at least one year of previous experience in a similar position. He or she also presents excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and has good knowledge of the English language (minimum B1).

The Snack Steward is responsible for managing our Buffets and working within our Restaurants. It is his or her duty to verify that the hot and cold dishes in the buffet are always readily stocked and presented in an impeccable manner. The Snack Steward has a friendly and helpful attitude towards our Guests, with whom he or she uses an utmost professional approach. He or she reports any complaints or problems to the Buffet Supervisor. He or she complies with rules relating to safety, health and hygiene. The Snack Steward has a strong ability to work in a team, and has good knowledge of the English language (minimum A2).

The Waiter is in charge of service at our Restaurants. He or she accommodates the Guests at their tables, interacts with them in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner, delivers menus, takes orders, recommends dishes, supplies bread and water, and sees that tables are always clean and tidy. The Waiter pays close attention to the needs of our Guests, with whom he or she is regularly in close contact. He or she is supported by an Assistant Waiter, and reports any complaints or problems to the Waiter Supervisor. He or she complies with rules relating to safety, health and hygiene. The Waiter has a remarkable ability to work in a team, and has good knowledge of the English language (minimum B1).

The Crew Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for the entire Restaurant service offered to the crew. Assisted by the Crew Restaurant Steward, he or she ensures that service meets Company standards. He or she monitors that the Buffet, the food, and the tables are always in order. The Crew Restaurant Supervisor collects any complaints and problems, and works to resolve them. He or she complies with rules relating to safety, health and hygiene. He or she has excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and demonstrates excellent knowledge of the English language (Advanced B1).

The Room Service Supervisor manages Restaurant services dedicated to cabin service. He or she organizes the taking of orders, manages deliveries, and assigns tasks to the Assistant Room Service Attendant and Dishwasher. He or she is supported by an Assistant Room Service Supervisor. The Room Service Supervisor deals with any complaints made either by management or by Guests. He or she complies with rules relating to safety, health and hygiene. The Room Service Supervisor has two years of experience in a similar position. He or she demonstrates strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, and has excellent knowledge of the English language (Advanced B1).

The Room Service Attendant carries out the duties of room service. He or she organizes and executes the delivery of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and any further requests expressed by our Guests. He or she always interacts in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner, without ever violating the privacy of our Guests. He or she collects items once the meal is finished and brings materials back to the kitchen. The Room Service Attendant collects any complaints from Guests and reports them promptly to the Room Service Supervisor or his or her Assistant. He or she complies with rules relating to safety, health and hygiene. The Room Service Attendant has the ability to work in teams, and excellent knowledge of the English language (minimum B1).

The Room Service Dishwasher works to ensure high quality dishwashing for Room Service with speed and efficiency. He or she complies with rules relating to safety, health and hygiene. He or she has the ability to work in teams, and has excellent knowledge of the English language (at least B1).
